Databases

Using dynamic content

Many websites offer their visitors access to a great deal of dynamic content. The advantage of this is a constantly changing website full of useful and ‘fresh’ content, which will encourage return visits. Such data is often best held in a database and the content maintained by a combination of user scripts and private management functions.

OXLink can advise on and create the following, for both simple and more complex dynamic website applications:

  1. Database organisation and structure
  2. Private, password protected, maintenance functionality
  3. User data collection / access functionality
  4. Importing data from external files
  5. Exporting data to external use

An excellent example of the use of dynamic data on the web can be found on local property rental agents, Finders Keepers’ website (www.finders.co.uk) [site opens in new window], where numerous aspects of the site (individual property information, for example) can be updated directly by their own office staff via custom maintenance applications.
