Databases
Using dynamic content
Many websites offer their visitors access to a great deal of dynamic content. The advantage of this is a constantly changing website full of useful and ‘fresh’ content, which will encourage return visits. Such data is often best held in a database and the content maintained by a combination of user scripts and private management functions.
OXLink can advise on and create the following, for both simple and more complex dynamic website applications:
- Database organisation and structure
- Private, password protected, maintenance functionality
- User data collection / access functionality
- Importing data from external files
- Exporting data to external use
An excellent example of the use of dynamic data on the web can be found on local property rental agents, Finders Keepers’ website (www.finders.co.uk) [site opens in new window], where numerous aspects of the site (individual property information, for example) can be updated directly by their own office staff via custom maintenance applications.
