Content management
Keeping your website up-to-date
If having a website is important, then keeping that website up-to-date is even more so and there are several ways in which this can be achieved.
Whilst OXLink can, of course, still offer ad hoc maintenance for websites where the need for constant updating is minimal, more regular maintenance may be better served by a self-management approach. This would enable non-technical staff to add, remove and update website content as often as is required, without fear of damaging site navigation, design or structure.
OXLink can advise on the most appropriate content management strategy for your needs, according to the level and type of content identified as requiring regular maintenance, plus the skills sets of individuals available to update that content. Two examples of possible content management strategies are given below.
Example: updating content for news or special offers pages
Where the regular update requirement of a website is confined to something like news or special offers page(s) content (including the upload of pictures), we would provide a simple custom maintenance database application, in a password-protected management area.
Any individual able to complete an online web form could update pages for news or special offers using such a maintenance function.
Example: updating a wider area of site content
For more control over site content (covering a much wider area than news / special offers alone) a more complete content management system could be incorporated into a website. Open source software is usually used to meet this need with complete ciustomisation to integrate it seemlessly across the whole site
In a similar fashion to the above, an individual able to complete an online web form could update a wider range of pages on a site, including adding images, formatting text (bold, italics, and so on), adding links to other websites and more.
